New Partnerships
At Living Connected we seek to develop partnerships with other community organisations who help our elders living along the NSW South Coast. These partnerships help us grow and find more people who need our help. Most recently we were approached by the Red Cross to work with those receiving their home visits and we believe our services can complement each other well. We are also strengthening our ties with aged-care providers and local councils in our region. We are active members of the Age-Friendly Illawarra Alliance and the Community Industry Group.
Get Online Week 2019
Living Connected joined hundreds of other members of the Be Connected network across Australia to participate in Get Online Week from October 4-8. We held GOLW events at our Unanderra and Woonona- Bulli Centres. As in 2018, we planned to introduce participants to social media by taking pictures and posting on our Twitter feed as shown here.
At both Centres we had a visit from Raj Bajpai, Community Ambassador from NBNCo, whose explanation of the NBN enlighten both our participants and our mentors as shown here.
We were also asked by the Multi-cultural Council of the Illawarra to help with some of their events as shown below.
On Wednesday morning, we helped some Spanish speakers from South America at the Corrimal Men’s Shed. We showed them how to connect to the Internet through our mobile broadband and to set up hot spots on their devices. They then had a go at taking selfies and sending them to each other as messages or email attachments.
